A Grizzly Bear Season Like Never Before
On our last bear tour of the 2023 season, we watched these two cuddle and sleep in the tall grass while the sun fought through the misty skies to warm us and the grizzly bears.
A Season to be Thankful For
After 2.5 years away from running tours our season this year started with a mixture of nerves and excitement. Part of being a wilderness guide is keeping your pulse on the fluctuations and movements of the seasons, the ocean, the environment and all its inhabitants.
The End of one Adventure is the Start of Another
At the tail-end of an awe-inspiring grizzly bear tour season, it’s easy to see that the benefits bestowed upon the Kutzeymateen Sanctuary have only grown since it was protected 28 years ago in partnership between the Coast Ts’msyen First Nations and BC Parks.
Return to the Khutzeymateen
Our company was lucky to pivot to more water-taxi work over the break, with guides working as deckhands and captains ferrying workers to and from ships and job sites within the harbour, and up and down Douglas Channel.
Uncharted Waters
With the melting of snow, gushing of runoff water falls and appearance of crocuses poking up through the thawing ground, the change in seasons is a bittersweet reminder for all of us that business is not quite back to normal.
